We left Kona and flew back to Honolulu, and then on to Las Vegas via LA. We stayed at Paris, a hotel with the Eiffel Tower as its main attraction.
We took a day tour out to the Grand Canyon, wow what a place. The size is overwhelming and the views are breathtaking.
We found Las Vegas an interesting but plastic/false city, worth a visit but wont be coming back.
We continued our trip back through LA and onto London on an overnight flight. The pacific premium seats were great and the service and food a nice tonic. We arrived in London early after a very smooth flight at 10am London time. We have seen the horse guards and the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace.
We took a trip on the London eye and visited "Big Ben" and the houses of parliament.
We then visited the horse guards stables, Nelsons column and came across an old red telephone box!
And our London trip continues!

HI Peter and Jenny
Keith tells me you're now in Italy; how lovely, hope it's nice and warm and sunny and you're totally relaxing after all those big adventures!!
We've had an intensive 3 weeks or so as my Dad went into Wgtn A and E (day of junior docs strike but we got a lovely consultant straight away!) and then out to Keneperu. he had crushed vertebrae from a fall from his bed. turned out he'd had a mini stroke 10 days before that which i'd suspected; he was presnting as confused and his mouth wasn't quite right either but he could swallow. won't give all the details here but he didn't make it this time and at the great old age of 97 died on 1 May. Mum, Daphne and I were with him and in the finish, like the last morning, he was at last peaceful. I'll tell you the story one day; was an amazingly privleged time nursing him in his last days. WE had a (some told us afterwards) beautiful funeral at Kapiti Coast Funeral Home wiht John Duncan officiating. We knew John from Parents Centre days 21 years ago! Our Priest Assistant Anne Aspden did the service as she had met Mum and Dad and my sister before. We had lovely music (Gemma played), hymns I Vow to thee my Country and Abide with Me and we walked out to Nat King Cole's Stardust; not a dry eye in the house but that was Mum and Dad's favourite piece over all those years. Al matured greatly over this difficult time. He had to see Dad in not too good a state bfore he went back to Canterbury (as he'd been up for semester break) as the nurses were hinting he should come in - his cousins and Gemma all arrived the next day so it was a shame we were altogether that day without Al but he had to go. Al also made a very good (if somewhat nervous) pall bearer (the youngest) and told me he loved me and gave me a lovely mother's day card with "you're fantastic" written on it and some spa treats. He couldn't do enough for me when he and Gem came up last WEdnesday. Funeral was friday and all the family were here. Now we have to be even busier (is that possible I ask myself!?!?) as we leave for New York/Quebec City/Ontario/San Francisco/LA 3 weeks tomorrow!!!!!! Ian has a conference in Quebec City. We'll be away 3 and a half weeks in total. Just hope it all comes together. Fortunately i'd just almost finished booking hotels as Dad went into hospital. Just 2 more nights to find in midst Ontario!
Take care. Missing you lotz but trust your travels are all you hoped they'd be AND MORE. Love to Ant and Lizzy. Let us know when you're returning..... My 50th by the way will be celebrated on Saturday 6th September somewhere/somehow. We decided we needed something lively to balance the last few weeks... Lots of love Kim xxx
